Study says that online shoppers will spend more in 2015

According to the latest studies, average annual spending on online shopping in India is expected to rise 67% to Rs 10,000 by 2015.

As per the latest study, the current online spending of about 40 million is expected to further increase by 65 million by 2015, at present online shoppers spend around Rs 6,000 a year on average.
Studies also says that, computer and consumer electronics, as well as accessories and apparel, account for the bulk of India retail e-commerce sales, will contribute 42% of total retail e-commerce sales in 2015 from the current level of 39%.
On the other hand, some factors that will contribute to the growth of e-commerce include aggressive merchandising and discounting from flash sales and daily deals, more online loyalty programs and increasing popularity of smart phones and tablet computers among consumers.
Even mobile commerce will become more important in 2015 as numbers of companies are shifting to M-Commerce.
The study also says that the industry is expected to spend an additional USD 500 million to USD 1 billion on logistics functions, leading to a cumulative spend of USD 950 million to USD 1.9 billion until 2017-20.
At Present, around 25,000 people are employed in online retailing warehousing and logistics. It is estimated that there will be an additional employment of close to 1,00,000 people in these two functions alone by 2017-20, as per the report.
